I can test this by turning the chime on and off in the watch all on my phone and if the screen is asleep the chime doesn’t happen just the taps. only if I wake the screen does it make the bell or bird chirp sound.

MyPurpleAir air quality app was just updated with Lock Screen widgets. I built Paku during some of the crazy wildfires a couple years ago. While Apple has AQI built into weather, PurpleAir has far more data from crowd sourced sensors. You can use the widget to automatically see the AQI from the nearest sensor, or from a specific one.
Goto Settings > Focus > Sleep and verify that it follows the Sleep app settings. Swipe up on your Apple Watch to access Control Center. Tap on the crescent moon symbol. You find all your focus options. Scroll through the list to locate the Sleep Focus with the bed icon. Tap it once to test it out.
