As a previous owner of both the 5th and 6th gen at the same time, this is my opinion on the matter. This tends to tick off a few VFR owners. The 5th gen has better headlights and a better engine. The 6th gen has better handling and optional factory hard saddle bags (the main reason I kept the sixth gen). Taken from a previous post.
